Convict Lake Couples Session | San Diego Wedding Photographer

This Convict Lake couples session in Mammoth was such a fun adventurous shoot that resulted in some of my favorite photos I have taken! My husband and I were on a road trip to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and I thought it would be cool to set up some shoots along the way and I am so glad that I did! I just couldn’t pass up an opportunity to capture the fall colors here.

As we were driving and approaching the lake we noticed a huge storm rolling in that we did not expect. I got a bit nervous because I had never shot in falling snow before, but when we finally arrived at Convict Lake it was sunny and clear with a few surrounding clouds! Little did we know, the mountains were just blocking the enormous black cloud that quickly came in after we started shooting!

Within a span of 15 minutes a blizzard began and the temperature dropped to 24 degrees Fahrenheit! You would never guess it by looking at these images though because Jessi and Daniel absolutely crushed it! They embraced the chaos of the coldness with me and in the end we made it a super fun experience. These photos will always have the best memory attached to them of us laughing (and shivering) through the session.

Jessi and Daniel are the sweetest humans who braved the cold for these photos and I am so grateful for them! It was so much fun to meet a new couple outside of San Diego and explore this gorgeous location with them. They are so lucky to call this place home!
