Balboa Park Elopement | Shaylyn + Andrew

Bride and groom smiling in giant tree trunk at their balboa park elopement

This Balboa Park elopement quickly became one of my favorite elopements I have ever photographed because it was completely unique to what the bride and groom wanted! Not every wedding has to be traditional and there is so much beauty in creating a day that is EXACTLY what you and your partner want and nothing less!

When Shaylyn first inquired with me about her and Andrew’s elopement plans, she included that their dog, Whiskey Maple Donut the Corgi would be their ring bearer/best pup/pup of honor and wow I couldn’t respond fast enough because I was so excited! If you know me, you know i’m a crazy dog lady so I ALWAYS welcome all the pups at shoots and weddings.

This elopement began at the San Marcos courthouse for the ceremony and it was so intimate and sweet. A handful of friends and family came to witness, but my favorite part was that Andrew completely surprised Shaylyn by flying out her parents for the ceremony. She had no idea they would be there and it took careful planning, but she turned the corner where they were waiting and the tears came flooding. I can’t think of a sweeter, more thoughtful way to start a marriage!

After the ceremony, we headed down to Balboa Park for some beautiful photos before partying on a yacht for the reception! This elopement was so unique and so fun because Shaylyn and Andrew did exactly what they wanted to do and, in my opinion, that’s what a wedding day should be all about! Scroll through the photos to see them feeding each other donuts and hanging out by the water with Whiskey Maple Donut the Corgi!

If you’re considering a Balboa Park elopement, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I live 10 minutes from this beautiful place and there are so many areas to explore and I would love to show you!
